Multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning superstar Rhianna will perform tracks from her new critically-acclaimed album Rated R and 15-year-old singing sensation Justin Bieber will rock the South Beach crowd with songs from his platinum debut My World in the Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam concert on Thursday, Feb. 4 for free on South Beach at 8th and Ocean Drive at 5pm and will be aired LIVE on VH1 at 9pm later on that night. The NFL & VH1 has partnered with Pepsi for two free concerts to help celebrate Super Bowl XLIV in South Florida.The Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam is the only official NFL Super Bowl concert series on South Beach and it will take place on Thursday, February 4.

Turnitin.com is a anti-plagiarism website that will be used by the student body at Miami Beach Senior High starting this school year which has been made possible with the money the ptsa made from the boat show parking fundraiser as plagiarism became a noticeable problem at the school. Turnitin.com scans for material that may have been copied from other internet sources by comparing the student’s paper with other students and by identifying matching text between papers.

After words a report is sent to the teacher if the assignment was considered plagiarized and it gives the original source. Many teachers have started using Turnitin.com, such as Pauline  Lakanen, English/Drama teacher at Miami Beach Senior High. “[Turnitin.com] is a way where students can learn how to document correctly,” says Lakanen. “It’s better to learn how to document correctly now in high school,rather than in college.” 

However, Sophomore Andrew Freedmen said “i dont think [turnitin.com] will really effect me at all, i dont think any of my teachers are making me use it this year and even if they are it doesn’t make much of an impact on my life because i dont plagiarize.” There is no official date to start the use of turnitin.com because there is problem for some teachers to log in, otherwise students should already started to use the site.

There are many ways to avoid plagiarism , and what most people dont know is that it is a serious crime and students could be charged. “ I can avoid plagiarism by putting things in my own words and trying to use internet sources as my last options and use textbooks and worksheets more.” said Freshman Daniela Groz. 

Thus, Plagerisim is a serious crime and can result in serious consequnes. Luckily, most teachers will grade student on how badly the assignment was plagiarized. “if it says that it was copied from a source, then it identifies the original source. sometimes they are honest mistakes but once they have been taught the proper way to do it, hopefully they all can do it the right way and not have any problems” said Pauline Lakanen.Thus,  Students at Miami Beach Senior High can now look forward to a new and easy way to avoid plagiarism thanks to turnitin.com.
